| Luey Angel Midgett
was a waterman most of his life. Here you see him at the wheel of the
schooner rigged sharpie "Georgia A.
Gaskins" docked at Washington, NC. Luey sailed this "freight boat" between Hatteras and
the mainland towns of Washington and Elizabeth City, North Carolina for his
brother-in-law, Willie Gaskins. The "Georgia Ann Gaskins" was 51' in
length, had a beam of 14', a draft of 3.5', and a displacement of 11 tons. |
